Iowa Child Labor

The first post in this disgusting “series” is located here It looks like Iowa’s class traitor governor has indeed signed into law a bill that allows children as low as 14 to work 6 hours a day during the school year. You can read more here - bewarned, the site pops regarding adblockers… Let’s do a little math. 6 hours a day for a 14 year old. School “gets out” around 3pm, maybe?

Sega

Another Tech Industry Union? It seems that Sega employees have filed for union election, with the NLRB. They will be known as AEGIS-CWA under the CWA umbrella. This is exciting to me, as a 40-something tech worker. All of my life I have grown and evolved in my career in software and have not seen labor evolve in similar fashions. Child Labor

Instead of paying adults more, some states might let companies hire kids as young as 14 to fill the labor shortage Lawmakers in Iowa and Minnesota have introduced legislation in the last month proposing exceptions to child labor regulations in their respective states, due to the persisting labor shortage hitting them particularly hard. Minnesota lost 90,000 workers alone during the pandemic, according to state demographers, making it one of the tightest labor markets in the country.
